Contract managers are sometimes called relationship managers, procurement managers and purchasing department managers. Whatever the title, and whatever the business model for strategic sourcing, contract managers are essential for ensuring compliance with contractual and legal mandates and avoiding or mitigating the losses that sometimes arise in outsourcing, in-sourcing or captive shared services organizations.
