Intellectual Property
Lawyers have traditionally focused on intellectual property as
a matter of law (copyright, patent and trademark) and common law (unfair
competition and misappropriation of trade secret). Recent changes to laws in
virtually all jurisdictions make this focus more acute. Recent developments in
the field of "knowledge capital" highlight the inadequacy of a purely
legal approach, since "knowledge capital" is the know-how and
knowledge references that the enterprise has developed over time, and which
could be altered through an improperly planned outsourcing.
